Not An Angry African (NAAA) Bookclub: The Bride Price

I’m a lifelong (never recovering) book addict. I have always enjoyed reading, picking out my own books at the school library and the random shopping trips to Kingston Books (if you don’t know it then I am probably old). I guess this is the part where I thank my school librarian for trusting me to handle books and for giving me one too many bookmarkers (yep, I was that sweet kid mayn)  My love of books never stopped there, I went on to become a moderator of #3mobBookClub and now I am a proud member of NAAA (well it’s just me and my dog LOL but you welcome to join).

I have decided to rebel and start my own book club. I am not an angry Zimbabwean woman but I am a rebellious reading one. I’m going to build my own mini library and introduce you to a wide range of books, and most importantly, ignite rage, rebelliousness, and a thirst for reading in you (if I say it that way I feel like I am about to change the world LOL). So this May I am sinking my book claws into The Bride Price by Buchi Emecheta. You are welcome to join me.

MAY BOOK OF THE MONTH

The Bride Price

Synopsis: A Nigerian girl is allowed to finish her education because a diploma will enhance her bride price, but she then rebels against traditional marriage customs.
