Books To Read Based On Your Sign

So I am that friendly neighborhood librarian with a huge pink cup of coffee, frills and a t-shirt that says Bookworms are COOL and a huge tote bag larger than her head waving frantically at the bus driver to stop the bus and totally not that creepy guy in YOU.So my friends totally asked me to recommend the books and so I decided to go for it because I don’t back up from a challenge.

Recommendation: Hlomu the wife by Dudu Busani-Dube

Review: You won’t sleep for days either daydreaming about certain bug-eyes that haunts your dreams and a specific taxi. Let the Zulu man invade your dreams because HE is worth it.

Recommendation: Being Shelley by Qarnita Loxton

Rating: 5/5

Review: You need this book and trust me it is soo amazing in leggings, a huge t-shirt, and wine. It’s okay if you start pinning for a forbidden kinda love and if you snort while laughing it’s okay too.

Recommendation: You’re not broke, you’re pre-rich by Mapalo Makhu

Review: As of March 27 I am 97% debt free and it’s thanks to books like these. Read it and ditch debt.

Recommendation: I Tweet What I Like by Jackie Phamotse

Rating: 5/5

Review: I first met Jackie Phamotse by accident and I have followed this bestselling author’s literary game. I only have two words for you (Liam Nesson voice) -READ IT.

Recommendation: The Lazy Makoti’s Guide To the Kitchen by Mogau Sesholene

Rating: 5/5

Review: Nothing makes the tummy happy than food y’all so in case you looking to impress the in-laws or hubby (or your tummy) you need to get this book.

Recommendation: The Gold Diggers by Sue Nyathi

Review: For the record, y’all Sue is my friend and she loves me (laugh out loud) or maybe I exaggerated y’all. I am telling you, you will be a bundle of emotions after you are done with this book but you will want to wake up and apply to be a Lawyer at UCT.

Recommendation: Black Tax by Niq Mhlongo

Rating: 5/5

Review: If you are the eldest child from an African family *sigh* you know without a doubt that your salary is not just for you but for the clan. You need to read this!

Recommendation: From A to B by Bonang Matheba

Rating: 5/5

Review: Read it because it’s BONANG MATHEBA!

Recommendation: The Hairdresser of Harare by Tendai Huchu

Rating: 5/5

Review: Vimbai’s story is not only hilarious but you can’t even for a second put it down. It’s a GREAT book and can we just appreciate all the hairdressers right now.

Recommendation: Bassie by Basetsana Kumalo

Rating: 5/5

Review: This woman is a force y’all and her story is REMARKABLE. I have never wanted to enter a beauty pageant like I did when I was savoring the pages of her powerful memoir. I am glad my children will read memoirs like these and dare to dream.

Recommendation: Happiness is a four-letter word by Cynthia Jele

Rating: 5/5

Review: I thought the four-letter word was FOOD but I was wrong. Read this book if you need friends that get you, something to cling to and you just need to snuggle with a four-letter rating.

Recommendation: The Wilderness Family by Kobie Kruger

Rating: 5/5

Review: Get the book!
